1893 Ginger Cola
/So last week I tried Pepsi’s semi-new beverage, 1893. It was good, in fact it was very good. Today I try the Ginger Cola variety of 1893 and something tells me I’ll like it just as much if not more.

Read MoreSo to stay current I felt it necessary to review Pepsi Cola’s offering of 1893. For those not in the know, 1893 is made with kola nut and sweetened with sugar. This is Pepsi’s take on craft soda and the can is full of words telling you so. It’s a “Boldly blended cola made with: Kola nut extract, Dark brown malt flavor, a touch of aromatic bitters, sparkling water, real sugar.”
Read MoreDiabolo makes me immediately think of the words diabolical and diablo. Neither of these words are all that positive, unless of course it’s in reference to the video game Diablo which is pretty fantastic. Diabolo, as you might have guessed, is a soda brand and the flavor at hand today is Mint Lemonade.
Read MoreEver consumed liquid tree? I’ve only had one soda by Empire and it tasted like tree, a spruce tree to be exact. It wasn’t very good as you might expect liquid tree to be, but I had to respect it. Why would I pick up another bottle of Empire you might ask? Well even though I didn’t like their tree soda they did a really good job in making it. So if they’ll put that much love and care into spruce soda then surely they’ll make a root beer that’s easy to love… right?
Read MoreI love it when I get the chance to drink a soda made in Texas I haven’t tried before. Fortunately for me I’m terrible at keeping up with what Dublin Bottling Works has put out so I occasionally get a “new” Texas treat. Today’s treat is called Dublin Texas Red Creme. While I do love a good red cream soda they can be hit or miss at times… like most anything. Here’s hoping that Texas Red Creme is a hit.
Read MoreAnother British soda is at my hand today, Tizer. All I know about Tizer is that it has a “Fruit Stripe Gum” look to its can design, is “The Great British Pop”, and only cost 49p. It sweetened with sugar aaaaaand that’s about it. Oh, it also calls itself a “Sparkling Mixed Flavour Soft Drink with Sugar and Sweeteners”. Just gets your mouth watering, doesn’t it?
Read MoreI have a couple questions about Excel Lemonade, but I’ll answer yours first. “Why are you reviewing a non-carbonated beverage, Aaron?” Well thank you for asking. I’m reviewing this non-carbonated beverage because the fine folks at Excel included it in their care package to me. I may not like every soda I try, but that’s just part of the job. Being rude and not trying what I’m sent is not part of the job… although one did get thrown away by someone else and I’m trying to find a replacement, but that’s a story for another time.
Read MoreI thought I was done with the assortment of sodas that Excel sent me, but plunging my hand in the ol’ cardboard got me one more… Million Dollar Grape. That’s a lot of money associated with a grape soda or any beverage for that matter, so I’m hoping they can back it up. It is sweetened with “Pure Cane Sugar” so that’s worth at least a couple of dollars, right? I’m not sure it’s made it to a million just yet, perhaps the taste will make up the difference.
Read MoreI recently reviewed Rocket Fizz All Natural Chocolate Soda; today I have a bottle of Rocket Fizz Chocolate Soda. I’m not really sure why this one isn’t considered all natural unless it’s the inclusion of “caramel color”. All other listed ingredients are natural, right down to the vague “natural flavor”. Would they really make a completely different soda where the only difference is coloring?
Read More“Great Creme Brulee Taste” says the bottle I purchased. That’s not typically something you see on the label of any liquid, much less a soda. Frostop Vanilla Caramel Creme Soda feels it mirrors the creme brulee taste well enough to broadcast it though. This is just one of the ways how Frostop Vanilla Caramel Creme Soda does a great job in presenting itself.
Read MoreI delayed on writing this review for Excel Orange Pineapple because… well because I thought I’d already reviewed it. After filling myself up with self doubt over several weeks I finally told my pride to take a hike and I checked. Well clearly I hadn’t reviewed it or I wouldn’t be writing this right now.
Read MoreThe soda I’m about to consume is made with real cocoa. Rocket Fizz All Natural Chocolate Soda is what’s at hand and I kinda want to skip all the fluff and take a swig. I’ll of course do that, but the parchment like label complete with “wax seal” make me giggle. That’s how you know it’s fancy, because there’s a picture of a wax seal. Good stuff.
Read MoreMy soda is taunting me. “Try me if you dare!!” So emphatic that they had to use two exclamation points. They even incorporate a devil’s tail into the font. Idris Fiery Ginger Beer is what’s threatening me today. It’s sweetened with sugar and has real deal ginger root extract in it as well. This also may have one of the most amusing ingredients I’ve ever seen…”Flavouring”.
Read MoreThe artwork on this bottle of Nella Bella Chocolate Almond Fizz is beautiful. A grove of white trees standing starkly against a blue sky. The words “Nella Bella” glowing as the sun peers over the first “E”. Even the flavor intrigues me. Chocolate Almond Fizz sounds like a delicious candy, yet this soda only has 10 grams of sugar because it’s also sweetened with Stevia.
Read MoreI am not feeling this review today… which means I probably shouldn’t do it. The creative juices aren’t flowing, I don’t really want a soda right now, and even these sentences are just to fill up space. Yet, there’s some part of me that is hoping that once I open this bottle of O-Zell Cherry Jubilee my mood will improve and I’ll be singing its praises as my creativity is renewed.
Read MoreThanks to the Excel Bottling Company I’m able to try another soda that’s new to my palate. While I’ve tried Lucky Club Cola I haven’t had the opportunity to try Lucky Cherry Cola. Lucky Cherry Cola is a pure cane sugar soda that has “True Fruit & Spice” listed as an ingredient. I don’t know what that means, but it sure seems impressive.
Read MoreYou know I’m a sucker for fun label art, right? Well Tommyknocker Almond Creme has tickled my fancy with their dwarfish looking miner holding a foaming mug. He looks so happy, almost Santa like in his serenity. While his face doesn’t show the markings of working underground you can tell he’s pleased with his drink choice.
Read MoreI’d never heard of O-Zell sodas until a few weeks ago. They advertise to be “All Natural” and have cartoon characters that would look more comfortable in the 1930’s on the label. Today’s offering is O-Zell Pineapple Whip, whose bottle holds a strong Hawaiian flair. Heck it’s even made with Hawaiian Cane Sugar.
Read MoreI really wish they spelled out “Mountain” on MTN Dew bottles and cans. It’s such a confusing mess. I mean you still call it Mountain Dew, but it’s just ridiculous in my mind… I don’t really have an argument and I get why they do it so I’ll hush.
Read MoreA while back I was given a bottle of Ski soda. Ski is a citrus soda not unlike Mtn Dew or Sundrop, but favors the lime flavor a bit more than those two. Cherry Ski, which is our selection today, is listed as being cherry flavored citrus soda as opposed to just cherry.
