Apple Sidra

Apple Sidra

I enjoy apple soda, so when a co-worker brought me a can of Apple Sidra I knew I was likely in for a treat. The design of the can is beautifully simple. As you can see it’s a picture of an apple on a bright yellow background with the words “Apple Sidra” bisecting the fruit itself.

Apple Sidra is a soda that originates in Taiwan, making this a doubly special treat for me. I wish I had more access to the Asian sodas of the world as they bring so much unfamiliarity to my “buds”.

Coca-Cola Georgia Peach

Coca-Cola Georgia Peach

Ah Summer! The sun beats down oppressively onto the pavement below. Just looking outside causes beads of sweat to collect on your brow. Nothing to escape this violent hellscape other than an ice cold Coca-Cola.

First off it’s Winter. Secondly, you should be drinking water if you’re sweating that much. Finally, todays soda review isn’t just for Coca-Cola, it’s for Coca-Cola Georgia Peach.

Dublin 1891 Red Cola

Dublin 1891 Red Cola

I really dislike allergies. My right eye is watering like a toddler waters a plant. Thankfully, at least I believe so, I’ve got a bottle of Dublin 1891 Red Cola. Earlier this year I thought I’d reviewed every Dublin Bottling Works product, but then I stumbled upon their 1891 line. I’m not sure if the ingredients are better, but it appears as if it’s a step above their normal sodas. Just so we’re on the same page, all of Dublin’s sodas are sweetened with cane sugar.

Grapefruit Kiss

Grapefruit Kiss

I’ve never heard of the soda Grapefruit Kiss before, but here it sits in front of me in a beautifully labeled glass bottle. It looks as if it was designed in the 60’s or 70’s and its cane sugar sweetener keeps in step with the style. I haven’t always liked grapefruit sodas, but they have quickly become a favorite of mine in moderation. Here’s hoping that Grapefruit Kiss is a memorable one for all the right reasons.

Coca-Cola California Raspberry

Coca-Cola California Raspberry

Georgia peach, Florida oranges, Maine lobster, California...raspberry? I’m self admittedly not the most knowledgeable on California produce, but I’ve never not once associated raspberries with them. Upon typing “California Raspberry” into Google I end up with results featuring the Coke I’m about to drink and a nail polish color.

Private Selection - Peach & Black Pepper

Private Selection - Peach & Black Pepper

I’m going through one of my trademark “dry spells” currently.  It may seem silly, but I have to be in the right mindset to write what I feel is a good review.  Correct mindset or not I’m still always on the lookout for a soda to try when I’m out and about. Fortunately for me my local Kroger contained a soda that caught my eye, Private Selection - Peach and Black Pepper.

Rowdy Roddy Piper ….all out of bubble gum

Rowdy Roddy Piper ….all out of bubble gum

I like to put fun references in my reviews when possible.  My Street Fighter and Mega Man energy drink reviews show this well.  Today’s soda is Rowdy Roddy Piper … all out of bubble gum. This review should be dripping with wrestling references or at least a casual mention of the movie “They Live”.  I’ve never been into wrestling, I have tried a time or two, and I’ve never seen the movie “They Live”. This cuts down considerably on the number of fun parallels I could have made.  Just wanted to forewarn you of what you were about to embark on.

Hollywood Original Shirley Temple Soda Pop

Hollywood Original Shirley Temple Soda Pop

Ginger ale, grenadine, and a maraschino cherry.  Those are the three ingredients needed to make the drink known as the Shirley Temple.  It’s a simple concoction, but a tasty one nonetheless.  If you don’t feel up to making your own then I guess you could do as I did and grab a bottle of Hollywood Original Shirley Temple Soda Pop… or as the kids call it HOSTSP.

Zuberfizz Strawberry Rhubarb

Zuberfizz Strawberry Rhubarb

Quick, picture a rhubarb.  For seven of you a clear concise picture popped into your head.  The remainder had pictures spinning and stopping as if on a slot machine in their heads, never quite landing on one that worked.  Rhubarb looks a little bit like red celery.  I have no idea what it tastes like personally but according to the internet it is similar to sour green apples.  I bring this up, as you’ve likely guessed, because today’s soda is Zuberfizz Strawberry Rhubarb.

Jackson Hole Soda - Grand Teton Grape

Jackson Hole Soda - Grand Teton Grape

My fifth grade teacher was talking to us about the Grand Teton Mountain Range.  I’m not sure why, I just remember the subject being discussed.  At the end of the conversation she told us “Do you know what Grand Teton means?  It means large *makes motion with hands that would make anyone think breasts*”.  I’m not sure why she told us that, if it was a giggle test to check our maturity or if she just wanted to make learning cool.  Either way it stuck with me, though there’s a chance it was named after the Teton Sioux tribe instead.

Private Selection - Huckleberry Hibiscus Cream Soda

Private Selection - Huckleberry Hibiscus Cream Soda

The final bottle of Private Selection (Kroger Brand) soda is upon us.  Huckleberry Hibiscus Cream Soda is the flavor on hand and I’ve saved it for last for a reason.  I’m often intimidated by flower flavored beverages.  You tell me something tastes like cherry I know what to expect.  Cola?  You bet, I have several examples of that in my mind.  Sarsaparilla is where it begins to get a little fuzzy, but I still feel confident enough to write on it.  Rose, Hibiscus, or Lemongrass… I really reach to put my thoughts on paper.

Private Selection - Creamy Ginger Root Beer

Private Selection - Creamy Ginger Root Beer

Another day, another bottle of Private Selection soda from Kroger.  The past few bottles have been honest in their flavor which is appreciated.  Today’s offering is Creamy Ginger Root Beer.  From the name alone I’m fairly excited to taste this one.  I like creamy sodas, I like ginger sodas, I like root sodas, and I like beer sodas.  Perhaps my breakdown is a little off, but you get the jist.  Here’s hoping this soda’s “title” isn’t the only delectable portion.

Private Selection - Irish Cream: Cream Soda

Private Selection - Irish Cream: Cream Soda

“Howdy” to all the citizens of the Carbo-Nation!  It’s 2018 and we’ve got some new sodas to review.  First things first we’re going to continue visiting some of the Private Selection (read: Kroger) brand sodas I picked up a while back.  They all seem to be non-alcoholic sodas themed to be like alcoholic sodas.  It’s an odd pairing, but they’ve been pretty spot on so far with their flavor creation.
