Popcast 18 - Dad's Root Beer

C'mon, with a name like Dad's Root Beer, it has to be a good old fashioned top of the line root beer right?  Well, as I usually say, tune in to find out if we love it, or hate it...or argue about it to the death.  Don't worry, not that you were, but we still have plenty of news:  Reed's expands yet even more, the nominees for this year's Dewmocracy are out, a soda fountain may grow in Brooklyn, root beer milk hits Kansas, and...root beer milk hits Oregon too?  Hope you enjoy it more than a soda that tastes like Pepto Bismol.  Thanks to Polarity Failure for the music (http://www.myspace.com/bassbyjames/).

Popcast Episode 18

Popcast 17 - Reed's Cherry Ginger Brew

Our personal lives calm down and we continue our content-loaded week with another Popcast!  Today we have another good one from Reed's, Cherry Ginger Brew.  Will it follow in the footsteps of apple and raspberry, or will it steer off into Yucksville.  Yeah, I said it.  In news, Jones stock is back over a dollar, their new CEO has some good ideas, Brooklyn gets a homemade ginger ale, and New Coke turns 25, which we celebrate by looking at a top ten list of bad drinks that Time has put together.  Hope you enjoy it more than a soda that has a deceiving color.  Thanks to Polarity Failure for the music (http://www.myspace.com/bassbyjames/).

Popcast Episode 17

Popcast 16 - Maine Root Root Beer

We clean up our act (ha!) with the cleanest (ha!...oh) soda we may have ever had.  But is that enough for us to be "fair" to this fair trade drink?  Find out by listening!  This week in news Coke tries to catch up with Pepsi, drinking soda kills sperm, Mary Jane now has a tea, and a little background on our friends at Oogave.  Not enough?  Well we end with a GIGANTIC SURPRISE.  Actually we eat soda flavored jelly beans.  And then talk about them.  While eating them.  Hope you enjoy it more than a soda that tastes like jelly beans.  See how I reversed that?  Thanks to Polarity Failure for the music (http://www.myspace.com/bassbyjames).

Popcast Episode 16

Popcast 15 - Organics Blood Orange

We hit the big 1-5 and celebrate with a tasty drink from the Organics line from Walgreens.  But wait...is it tasty?  Find out by listening.  This is the agreement we have, you listen, we tell.  Along with the exciting review we have some exciting news, or rather some news, such as Jones getting a new CEO, Jones ending their 2009 badly, Coca-Cola getting pretty bottles in France, a story on that big soda pop store in LA, and another coffee soda "pops" up.  Hope you enjoy it better than a cucumber or celery soda!  Thanks to Polarity Failure for the music (http://www.myspace.com/bassbyjames).

Popcast Episode 15

Popcast 14 - NuGrape

Back to back episodes with smudgy labels, comin' at ya!  This week's comes from NuGrape, a soda which claims to be grape flavored.  Is it?  Find out!  Also listen to us read some news, like how US soda sales fell at a slower rate, Coke's president doesn't think the soda tax will stop obesity, sugar is beating out HFCS, infants drinking soda in the 50s, a new flavor from GuS, and a non-soda soda review from San Francisco.  Hope you enjoy it more than a soda that tastes like a melted Otter Pop.  Thanks to Polarity Failure for the music (http://www.myspace.com/bassbyjames).

Popcast Episode 14

Popcast 13 - Americana Black Cherry

Nothing says Americana like Black Cherry...I guess.  So here's a review of American Black Cherry, in audio form, that we like to call the Popcast.  Along with that we also have news, which too is in audio form.  This week a new challenger has arrived in the Reed's/Jones merger saga, Jones may be delisted from NASDAQ, Pepsi stops selling full-sugar soft drinks at schools, PepsiCo lowers sodium, added sugar and saturated fat in all it's product lines, Coke's 104-flavor soda machine starts appearing and a new root beer born in an arcade.  Hope you enjoy it more than a soda with a label that melts all over your hands.  Thanks to Polarity Failure for the music (http://www.myspace.com/bassbyjames/).

Popcast Episode 13

Popcast 12 - Nesbitt's of California Orange

Get ready to "orange your brains out" with episode 12 of The Popcast!  Bring your family and your pet, which may or may not be named "Exodus" to listen as we taste a very orange orange soda.  In the news this week, Wild Bill starts making soda, soda sales are down, why sodium benzoate is so terrible and how you can reverse the damage, the soda bottle boat sets sail, a look at the Fizz Keeper Pump, and "Pops" sells their millionth bottle of soda.  Hope you enjoy it more than a soda made with automobile emissions.  Oh, wait...  Thanks to Polarity Failure for the (updated) music (http://www.myspace.com/bassbyjames/).

Popcast Episode 12

Popcast 11 - Old Town Root Beer Company Sarsparilla

On our eleventh episode we take a look (and many sips) of an old fashioned sarsaparilla.  At least we think it's old fashioned, we weren't able to travel back in time to get a comparison.  In the news this week, Reed's and Jones merging, Reed's expanding even more, Coke's attempt to be the powerhouse they once were, people don't care what soda can do to you, and choosing hotels based on soda.  Hope you enjoy it more than a Coke at a Marriott.  Thanks to Polarity Failure for the music (http://www.myspace.com/bassbyjames/).

Popcast Episode 11

Popcast 10 - Peardrax

Somehow we made it to a tenth episode of our Popcast, and we celebrate by trying to poison ourselves with a substance known as "Peardrax."  In fact the whole thing is very hazy now trying to look back on it.  I'll blame it on the nail polish remover, I mean Peardrax.  Consider that a sneak preview.  The news was slightly more exciting this week:  Coke tries to imply diet soda is "heart healthy," Pepsi v. Coke in the war of being nice, Sprite still exists and Coke would like you to know that, good news for Waialua, Mary Jane moves to Cali, and how a man and his son started brewing their own sodas for their own shop.  Hope you enjoy it more than...Peardrax.  Thanks to Polarity Failure for the music (http://www.myspace.com/bassbyjames/).

Popcast Episode 10

Popcast 09 - Organics Pomegranate Italian Soda

Pomegranate is all the craze, so we jump on the tangy bus and join in with Walgreen's own organic version of a pomegranate Italian soda.  Do we like it?  Are we split on it?  Find out in this week's episode.  In our...exciting (ahem) news, we talk about Coke following Pepsi's lead by buying it's bottlers, the reason for Coke's decision and why big soda might be losing popularity, how Dr. Pepper benefits from the deal, Reed's doing even more expansion, Hansen has a good end of year, and Colorado expands it's sales tax to soda products.  Hope you enjoy it more than a soda flavored with tomatoes from Mars!  Thanks to Polarity Failure for the music (http://www.myspace.com/bassbyjames/).
