Caruso's Legacy Robusto Root Beer

Closer and closer...

I have what could be the fanciest looking root beer label in front of me.  It’s got a black and white picture of a couple, it’s got a fancy font that is similar to the “Cheers” television program, it has the words “Legacy” and “Robusto” in the title.  “Robusto”... that’s Italian for robust in case you weren’t aware.

Taking a look at the ingredients it’s made with filtered water, pure cane sugar, and some delicious natural AND artificial flavors.  Okay, so maybe the ingredient list isn’t as fancy as the front label, but it’s still worth trying.  Oh, I haven’t even told you what I’m trying!  It’s Caruso’s Legacy Robusto Root Beer.  I’m sure you read the title and knew that already, but just in case.

It smells of root beer.  There’s no rewarding or off putting aroma escaping the bottle, just root beer.  That’s a little safer than I thought they’d play it being a “Gourmet Soda”, but the scent only accounts for so much of the soda.

Quite nice.  Forget Barq’s, Caruso’s Legacy Robusto Root Beer truly has bite. The first sip taken shocked my mouth with an intense amount of carbonation.  Tiny bubbles burning their way across the roof of my mouth and down my throat.

The taste is unwaveringly good as well.  While not full of spice and intricacies, it’s consistently true and stronger than many root beers.  It’s so true that I may reference this as my Root Beer Baseline from here on out.  All root beer should strive to be at least as good as Caruso’s Legacy Robusto Root Beer.  To raise the bar like that would likely never happen, but oh if it could.

I’m starting to notice a little vanilla on the finish of each sip.  Oddly enough I didn’t taste the vanilla until I burped and then it came through like a champ.  I guess after building upon itself as each sip vanished the vanilla became more and more prevalent a flavor.  I’m glad it did because it really puts the right punctuation on the end of the sentence.

Caruso’s Legacy Robusto Root Beer is root beer.  It may be the most root beer root beer I’ve ever had.  It’s pretty dang fantastic.  It won’t get a perfect rating from me, but I will sing it’s praises from here on out.
